Mary S. Chambers, 94, of rural Galion died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 at Magnolia Terrace where she has resided the last six years.
Born Dec. 22, 1915 in Iberia, she was the daughter of the late Carl E. and Ruth R. (Sherman) McDonald. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Willard V. Chambers on Oct. 15, 1985.
Mary was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Galion and was a farm wife and a great cook. Mary helped her husband on the farm, actually running the farm machinery in the fields. She and Willard traveled extensively prior to his death and afterwards with her sister, Violet.
She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Linda Boyd Chambers of Galion; two grandchildren and spouses, Steve and Laura Chambers of Galion and Pamela Ann and Pete Pyeatt of Springfield, Mo.; three great-grandchildren, Ashley Pyeatt of Springfield, Mo., Eric (Kerrie) Bohach of Galion and Matt (Kristen) Bohach of Delaware; one great-great-grandson, Graden Bohach; one brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Thelma McDonald of Sebring, Fla.; one sister, Effa "Becky" Johnston of Galion and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition the her husband she was also preceded in death by one son, Walter E. Chambers, one brother, C.E. "Jack" McDonald and two sisters, Lillian Miller and Violet Hurlow.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Snode officiating. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.
